Edited by: skye orionis on 10/01/2010 17:00:37 Here's my quickstart guide for caldari noobs - 1) start in space, and do the in space tutorial, you'll get some items 2) 2 the 2 part 'Endless battle' tutorial in your noobship 3) open help and look at the career path agents, set destination for the system with the agents and do all the missions.
Ok so while doing the noob missions train Caldari Frigate from 2 to 3 Missile Launcher Operation 1 Rockets 1 Afterburner 1 Shield Upgrades 1 Hull Upgrades 1 * Weapon Upgrades 1 * The last 2 are given in the 10 part tutorial missions, and you'll get some other skillbooks (e.g. propulsion jamming) that are probably worth training if only to complete the tutorials - these are just the minimal skills to fly a kestrel. These skills should take less than 10 hours.
That'll let you fly a simple shield tanked kestrel: Minimal Skill Kestrel 4x Rocket Launcher 1MN Afterburner Small Shield Booster Magnetic Scattering Amplifier (swap depending on enemy damage type) Ballistic Control System Nanofiber Structure (or overdrive?)
This will burn through most lvl 1 missions with ease - use this to learn to control range & capacitor control. You'll have to orbit at around 2500m with your afterburner on, you'll take damage, pulse the booster to keep your shield about 30%, watch your capacitor, if it drops below 30% then stop orbiting and put some range on the bad dudes so you can regen your capacitor and shields. If things get really bad warp out. Repeat and rinse.
If you want to invest in this setup then train energy grid upgrades to 2 and fit a Micro-Auxillary power core and put standard missile launchers on that fit to give you much longer ranges.
4) After doing all the noob missions sort through your stuff, sell whatever you don't need and head off to 'Arnon' to do the sisters of eve arc. The arc has about 50 missions and pays pretty well, but you'll want to upgrade to a cruiser for the later missions so the training plan for this is.
Caldari Frigate from 3 to 4 Caldari Cruiser 2 Missile Launcher Operation 1 to 2 Standard Missiles 1 Drones 2 Scout Drone Operation 1
And this will let you fly a caracal with a big fat buffer tank that recharges quickly enough to fend off most damage, and lasts long enough to kill most things causing it.
Caracal Low SP Mission Runner 5xAssault Missile Launcher 10MN Afterburner 2x Large Shield Extender Magnetic Scattering Amplifier/Heat Dissipation Amplifier (again switch depending on damage types) 2x Ballistic Control System 2x Hobgoblin
That'll get you through the sisters arc while you train learning skills. Now, find some nice agents and run missions to make some cash while you wait out the training of other learning skills. Don't do level 3 missions until you train more ship skills and can fly a battlecruiser.
Now you might also look through the skills for sale on the market in the missiles/engineering/electronics/mechanic section - train up anything to level 1 that sounds useful, all those little level 1 skills take a few minutes each but provide little boosts.
